I think it's got a really ugly sound. Like either a hillbilly pronunciation of Claudia or a sticky-sweet nn for Claude.

I don't mind Claudine with the French pronunciation. Claudia in British English, and indeed Claud and Claude, I don't like, mostly I think for the awe sound (not the American ah). Claudie? Strictly nickname, if necessary. I find it unappealing.
