I'm always surprised: in U.S. there are so many rare names and variant names everywhere!
Here in Italy it's very rare coming across a name with less bearers. Rare names are very unique...variant names does not exist. The 40% of babies every year is named with a Top30 name...
This situation has changed thanks to people with a foreign background but among Italian names the revival of rare names is so slow compared with U.S.A.!

Hey, haven't seen you in a while :)
There's definitely a lot of mixing and borrowing from other cultures here that give us some interesting results!
I also admire how proper and elegant Italian names are, but I'm always happy to see old and rare names come back in use. :))
