Phocas in Italian is Foca.
Foca is the Italian word for "seal (animal)". So this is the problem: the name itself is so Ancient, Byzantine and old but the nature-themed meaning so immediate makes it very modern such as Oceano (m), Falco (m), Futura (f), Luce (f) ... But Foca (Phocas) is masculine while foca (animal) is grammatically feminine.
So this name is confusing and pretty unuseable.
