If I had a pet mouse or rat, I would be tempted to name it Gus after one of the friendly little mice in Cinderella.
It feels very old fashioned, but I wouldn't be surprised if it became popular in 15 years just as August has received more attention in recent years.

Don't like it
It’s very nickamey and reminds me of the fat mouse in Cinderella.
I like it
It's cute and dorky, with an outrageously over the top frilly full name, how could I say no? I love this name even though I had a really creepy uncle Gus. I also like Gussie for a girl, it's so satisfyingly Dickensian.
I'd call a pet Gus for sure, it works on a wide variety of creatures great and small. I love the nonsense nickname "Gustopher".

LOL...Gustopher is amazing.
I think it sounds like either a fat, slovenly old man sitting in a recliner passing copious amounts of gas, or a fat, slovenly old dog doing the exact same thing.
