It's been on my mind because of the Barbie movie coming out. I think I'd like it if it weren't a rude slang word, like a woman being called: "hey, Malibu barbie!" (it's basically like being called plastic/vapid, while also being told you're pretty, and it's implied that that's connected). Barbara is a moderately interesting classic name but seems a little staid to me, so Barbie livens it up (it's spunky and sweeter than Barb; I don't like other Barbara NNs). The fact that it's an iconic doll would make me hesitant to use it, but it's the slang that makes it seem actually unappealing to me.
