I think Theda can stand on its own, just because it's technically a contraction doesn’t mean it doesn't also work by itself. Maybe not as appealing to me as Thea, but you do you.
Also, wasn't the stage name Theda Bara specifically chosen because it was an anagram of "Arab death" and made her sound "exotic"? That's what I read once, anyway.
