I like the Polish pronunciation of Amelia a lot - a-MEHL-ya. It feels sweeter than ə-MEEL-yə, more mellifluous, warmer.

I dislike how similar Amelia and Emilia are in English. In my native language, they're very distinct in pronunciation. Either way, I prefer Emilia. It's sharper, more distinct than delicate, soft Amelia.

Amelia is fine - elegant - but I'm indifferent to it. I've met far too many. In middle school, I had two classmates named Amelia - one of whom died in a tragic accident. Other than that, I think of Amelia Earhart and Amelia Bloomer - both positive namesakes. But it's such a conveniental name. No panache.
