Sleeping Beauty- Flora, Fauna and Merryweather the three good fairies. Flower Bambi’s name for the skunk in BambiThey are fine for mythical creatures and animals but not for children. I could see someone using Flora though in the Britain it is also the name of a brand of margarine. When I was running a rainbow unit which are girls 4-7 years old (British equivalent of Daisies) all the leaders used flower names I was Bluebell and we also had Daisy, Poppy, Sunflower, Snowdrop, Rose, Petal and Blossom. Again Flora and Fauna would fit perfectly as leader nicknames for the girls to call us.

I was thinking about Flower as an alternative to Fleur or Flora the other day; it sounds unappealingly like flour, but then, Fleur sounds like floor to me, and Flora vaguely reminds me of bacterial flora, so I could learn to ignore that, I think. Flower is pretty in an unadorned way, yet it has some pizzazz, about like Jewel. It's a nature name obviously but has the common/trendy surname *er ending like Clover (which is charting!), Winter, River, Ember, and it's an optimistic type word name like Hope, Sunny, Dawn, and Prosper. I like that it's not as polished as Florence maybe...I feel that I should like Florence but never have really. Flora seems like a cool name for an elderly Italian matriach while also somewhat current/young, but I prefer Cora and Zora of similar sounding names. The vibe reminds me of Luna, Aurora, and Fauna a bit, and I might slightly prefer those to Flora, too.

I really like Flora, but Flower just doesn’t work for me.

I'm not particularly fond of either, but I prefer Flower over Flora. Flora feels very trendy to me, while Flower is quirky and original.

I like Flora a lot. Flower is good in certain circumstances. I think it's an adorable name for an animal. But in my accent Flower and Flour have the same pronunciation, and Flour is less fun as a name. If I had to pick a Flower-ish name for a real human person I might go with Blossom first.

I dislike both of those. Flora seems old ladyish and fussy. Flower seems like a joke. The skunk in Bambi is what comes to mind. I much prefer Fleur or naming directly after a flower like Rose or Lily.

Flora is lovely, Flower is laughable.

Flora is fine, but I prefer Florence and especially Laura. Flower is foolish. Fleur is close to the edge, but fine.
