One of the prettiest female names imo. I don’t associate it with Marina and the diamonds. I think it sounds a bit old fashioned, I guess because I knew a Maurina, but it’s so gorgeous to me.

I once knew someone named Marina. She was born in the 80s, so I guess it's given as a name sometimes at least.

This name is beautiful but has always left me feeling cold. There's something so impersonal about it, I suppose because it's a word. But I don't always get that impersonal feeling from word names, so I don't know why this one gives me the chills. I like it but I don't really enjoy it. I'm adding this to my Uncanny Valley names list.

I like it; and I don't mind the yachting association at all. It's been used in South Africa by Afrikaans speakers, as has Marinus, which I prefer.
