The highest tier in Scottish football (soccer) is the Scottish Premier League or SPL. In one of the SPL teams is a player called Fashion Sakala jr as his father is also Fashion Sakala.
I’m not normally a fan of unusual word names but he has a career in which an unusual name is a benefit and I quite like it.

Interesting. According to the Wikipedia article about him, his official name is not "Fashion Sakala Jr." but is "Junior Fashion Sakala".
Junior used to turn up as a given name in the USA regularly. When I was first doing research on name fashions in Michigan back in the 1980s and could still directly look at birth certificates, I saw that back in the 1930s and 1940s it was quite common for boys named after their fathers in Michigan to have "Junior" given as their middle name instead of as a suffix -- there were many examples of "John Junior Jones" instead of "John Jones, Jr."
Junior peaked as a first name on the SSA chart in the USA in 1926. but it has never since left the top thousand and still ranked #740 in 2021. And much to my surprise, I see from the chart on this site that Junior ranked #390 as a first name for boys in England and Wales in 2021.

Ooh, haha. Then he must just prefer to be known as Fashion.
I don't dislike Junior as a 1st name, mainly because I like the nicknames Juni and June.

This sort of thing happens in Africa ... Fashion jr has what could well be an African surname. I'm quite used to the idea, and Fashion is surprisingly pleasant, compared to many others. I think the worst I've ever seen was Psychologies. Mind you, Furniture is also pretty bad.

I think it's the Jr part that has me intrigued because I would be so interested to meet a Psychologies Jr or Furniture IV.

It calls to mind stories you hear about isolated tribes/cultures who first become acquainted with English speakers and name their kids things like Cigarette or Careless without really understanding the words.
Also, Fashion reminds me of Cardi B naming her baby Kulture. Annoyingly self-promoting.

I don't know if I'd like it as feminine (it seems like it'd be more expected, though I don't hate Dior or Chanel), but Fashion Jr. being the name of a male football player is the most interesting name I've seen in a while. It's definitely got flair, which is fun....yet I sorta wonder if it's a transliteration that just happens to coincide with English...
