As an 80s baby this name is so common in my generation and I still love it. Wdyt?

I think the name got used so much that it was uninteresting to me for a long while, but when I set that aside I actually really enjoy both the meaning and sound. I would also like to see it become more unisex again.

I knew a Chinese woman whose English teacher in the late 1970s in Taiwan had given her the name 'Susannah', which she didn't like at all. Someone else suggested Ashley and she liked it much better. I've also known a boy Ashley, but I automatically guess it's a girl name. I don't like it much; Ash is a bleak and dreary nn, so I try hard to think of ash trees instead. I gave Chinese Ashley the trees-in-a-meadow etymology, which made her happy. She didn't like the product-of-combustion meaning of Ash at all.
