I love this idea, honestly, although I'm not clever enough to think of many combinations, and sometimes it can produce ghastly results! But it can also be really interesting and it's a great idea for making names for stories. My city has an enormous Filipino community so names like this are actually not too uncommon here!
One example I can think of was when I heard of someone called Somerly after a combo of both parents, somehow. Pronounced "Summerly" which at the time I thought was really pretty.
