Ari
what's your opinion on the popular hebrew male name Ari? personally, I like it, but it doesn't compare to Arieh. I like it equal to Ariel and more than Lavi and Kfir. (I have a great-great-grandfather named Leon, so I like similar names). Ari did grow on me, but it's just so popular both in the united states and israel that it seems to be the default name for a jewish male, both in real life and in fiction. Back in the day, Avi used to be the default israeli masculine name in american movies, but now, it's not so common as a name among israelis younger than 30.
Anyway, I recently discovered Ari isn't a renewed hebrew name like I assumed, as it has been used by jews in Bukhara (Uzbekistan) even before they came to Israel.

I've never met an Ari that I liked and it's why I dislike the name.
Like it, especially as a nickname of Arik, Arian, Arijan, Arrian, Ariel, Arielle, Ariella, Ariyan, Aria, Ariyah, Ariane, Ariana, Arianne, Arianna, Ariadne, Adrienne ...
To me it always seems, as if there is something missing.
I like Ari as a nickname.

Love Ari, Avi, Ariel and Arieh. Such handsome names.
It's fine but too common.
