Dolly
What do you think of the name Dolly?
I don't like the name Dorothy, but Dolly could work as nickname for Gwendolyn or do you think it's fine on it's own? Other potential full names are Dolcie, Eudolie, Odelia(?)

There’s always Dahlia.
My grandfather's favourite flower! I love your suggestion!
In my accent it sounds like dah-lee, not doh-lee, so it's not very natural as a nick for Gwendolyn.
I think any name with "dor" as the emphasized syllable could be fodder for a nickname Dolly. Doesn't have to be "dol."
I think Dolly is the sort of name that, in today's world at least, should only be accepted voluntarily as a nickname by a person who's at least twelve.

I have a real soft spot for this name because it makes me think of a former poster from the site that I always admired.
I often thought Dolly could be a cute nickname for Dolores, but if Dolly works for Dorothy, well the sky's the limit. Any Do- name would work. Gwendolyn is a unique idea, I like that, although it would be tough to discourage people from using Gwen, you'd have to accept that would happen. Eudolie is a name I've not heard before, that's neat!
If Dolly works by itself for Dolly Parton, I don't see why it wouldn't work on its own for other people.

I don’t like Dolly at all. It makes me think of toys. I think it could work for Gwendolyn, but it doesn’t feel entirely natural. If I was to use Dolly, I’d pick Dolores for a full name.
My aunt's nn was Dolly, her name was Dorelle, but the nn was because she was so tiny when born
Ok as a nn not full name
