I'd look at Richard's middle and last names. If that didn't work (because he had no mn and his ln was Schlotzki, for instance) I'd ask him for a couple of names he liked. If that didn't work because he was dead, I'd plant a tree in his memory or do that "name a star" thing.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

Agree. Honouring is kind of a nice concept but ultimately you would want a nice name.I do like Rochelle but it's such a stretch to say it was after a Richard.

In my culture we often name for the dead, but aren't so strict about it having to sound exactly the name. I am named for an Ethel, but my name isn't Ethel. My sister's middle name is Beth but is for a Bertha. I think Rochelle would be fine.
