I came across this IRL recently.What are your thoughts on the name Shade?

I think Shady would be a nicer name than Shade, in terms of sounds. I agree that it sounds like a name from a bad YA romance, it has the potential to sound like it's trying really hard to be edgy.

Pronounced like the word? Or like the singer Sade? If I saw it as a name IRL I'd have to ask.
If it's like the word, it's kinda bad. Makes me think of the three shades. And I haven't even read Dante.
I guess the best concept of shade, like airy cool relief from heat/fire, is an interesting one for a name. But the word shade just doesn't work well as a name for a person IMO. It's just ... off target, seems like it wouldn't become natural as a name.

Wasn't there a singer named Sade and pronounced like SHAHday? I don't like either of them at all, though Shade might be welcome in times of global warming.
