I have been liking Lillian more this year and I'm not entirely sure why. I used to be only so-so on it. It's been sneaking up on me. If I'm not careful it'll end up being one of my favorites soon.
I think the transition is partially the result of a character I wrote about in a short story last year where I used the name. The character was a redheaded teenage girl with a much younger brother named Patrick and they were on an excursion to find their missing maternal grandfather in another town (whom they have never met) after the untimely disappearance of their mother as they had no other known family. Their mother was a teenage runaway, so her grandfather never met or even heard of his grandchildren previously. So it's a short story about them uncovering the family secrets that led them to where they are today and the healing that is required of generational trauma.
