I'm not Jewish, but I find Adonai rather shocking, myself. Consider the similar (but not so sacreligious) Adlai in its place?

Ditto here. I'm also Jewish, and while I find it offensive its also very understandable as many are not educated about the Jewish religion. For those who don't know, Adonai is one of the most common of our terms we use for g-d. It would be like naming your child Michael God. Not generally appropriate.
