I absolutely love this name, but everyone keeps telling its so old-fashioned. WDYT? Can anyone think of any mns for it?

I love Dorothy. It never got as popular here (Scotland) as it did in the States, so to me it's not got any date attached to it. If you're worried about it being too old-fashioned though, Dorothea could be fresher.Dorothy Linden

I happen to like the name Dorothy, and I don't think that it's too old fashioned (this is one of those dated names that I think would be nice to see on a girl these days).

This is my mother's name and I wouldn't use it because it is too much like the baby-boomers. I think it will come back eventually, it's just not ripe yet- like Gloria, Barbara or Donna. My mom's name is Dorothy Angela. Other combos (I prefer the 1-syllables here): Dorothy Anne
