Gabrielle is preferable.

Of these two, Gabrielle is less princess-y to be and a bit more grounded. However, I prefer Briella to both (as well as just Brielle) as Briella avoids the dreaded "Gabi."

I like Gabriel as a m name, but the f versions don't appeal. The rhythm of GABreELLa is unpleasing, as is gabreEL. And I dislike Ella, Ellie and especially Gabby as nns, so I'l stick with the boy version.

ETA Gabriella/e seem to have peaked in popularity where I live: there were herds of them roaming the streets in school uniform about ten to 15 years ago.
