Cathy
What do you think of the nickname Cathy for a young girl?

I like it. It makes me think of Wuthering Heights and the Simon & Garfunkel song America.

It's quite awkward. It's like being stuck between Kate or Katie which are young and Kathy which is quite dated. If her full name is Catherine, I prefer the nickname Cate, Kate, or Katie for her.

It's ok, but prefer it as a nn

It's nice, but only as a nickname for Catherine, I wouldn't use it as a full name. I like the nickname Cate as well, I think both of them sound mature, feminine and strong at the same time.

Well, it's more grown-up than Katie, but it's just too grown-up. It was out as a nn for girls my own age, which is now 42. I don't know any Cathys/Kathys close to my age, they all seem to either be Katie/Kate or just Katherine.

Anything is better than Kate, Katy, Caitlin etc, etc. Sad associations with Wuthering Heights, book and song, but they wouldn't put me off. I think I'd prefer Kitty, though.

Fresh, retro, charming! (Only as a nickname!)
