My GP, an older woman, spells her name Anneliese and pronounces the final -e.
Afrikaans South Africans often use merged names, for instance if they want to name a child after both grandmothers. I knew a woman named Maria Elisabeth Helena who was always called Marelna; when she had a daughter, she named the baby Marelna, with no mn. I think the fashion is fading, but we don't keep naming statistics so it's hard to tell.
