In the US and other English-speaking countries, it was never a nn. Most would say it's just plain too long to be a nn, and if a non-Russian person said "My name's Natalie but I go by Natasha" she'd be assumed to be a bit pretentious or silly.Natasha is cute. It feels a bit dated here as it was very popular, mostly on black girls, born in the seventies and eighties. But with Natalie and Natalia being quite popular, Natasha doesn't stand out as dated the way other names of that era/demographic do.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!
