What do you think of the name Katrina?

It’s pretty but I can’t help but think of the hurricane. I actually prefer Karina.
Andrew and Sandy are more common than Katrina so the association persists. It’s the same reason why Adolf fell out of use but not Joseph in spite of Goebbels and Stalin. I think Katrina was quite mismanaged and that’s why it’s so infamous.
Even sound wise, I’d much rather Katherine or Caterina.

I really like it. It sounds less old-fashioned than Katherine (although I do still like Katherine) and I love the nickname Trina! The Hurricane Katrina association doesn't bother me. I think it would sound good paired with a Russian name.

Katrina is beautiful, and I vacillate between preferring Katrina or Katarina. I definitely prefer both to Catherine / Katherine, though.
I think it's cute, much nicer than Katherine. My mother always had one doll named Katrina when she was little, and her family assumed she'd name me Katrina, but she says she never really considered it. I don't know why. I would have liked it, though in 2005 I would have gotten tired of hearing how big and destructive I was.
But as a name, Katrina had already gone out of fashion by then.

I know quite a few Katrina's, born both before and after the hurricane. It did drop off significantly after the hurricane (in BC), but not so much that its completely unheard of now.
I think its still usable.

Hurricane Fiona too...
I've always liked Katrina. It's simple and pretty. I also really like Andrew. Sandy is cute, but not very firm as a legal moniker. And I love Fiona. I wish they'd stop giving unfortunate events human names.

100% agree!

I’ve loved it since I was a kid, years before the hurricane hit.
But yeah, unfortunately it did get (and probably still gets) a bad rep because of the hurricane. I’m hoping maybe enough time has passed for people not to immediately associate it with that, but idk. It really is a beautiful name.
