Marceline, Evangeline, and Selene
Here are some names ending in -line I’ve been thinking about.
1. What do you think of each name?
2. What middle names would you use?
3. What would you name a brother and sister to each of them?
4. Do you pronounce Selene, seh-LEEN or seh-LEE-nee

Marceline - the most refreshing and my favourite of the list. Marcy is a cute nickname. Not sure about middle names, will edit in if I think of any, same with siblings.
Evangeline - the evangelist association always prevents me from completely loving it, it’s just ok. Evangeline Pearl was the first that came to mind. Siblings: will edit in later
Selene - I intuitively pronounce that spelling as seh-LEEN, although I do like the Greek pronunciation. It’s ok, I prefer Selena or Serena though. Selene Amara popped into my head. Siblings: edit later

1. Marceline: This is a very pretty name! I think of Adventure Time, personally. Also, I love the nicknames Marcy and Celine!
Evangeline: This is a very pretty name, but it wouldn’t be my first pick.
Selene: I do like this name! It’s a very nice name.
2: Marceline Flora, Evangeline Sarai, and Selene Vivica.
3: Marceline Flora, Evander Caspian, and Phoebe Esther.
Evangeline Sarai, Christopher Zachary, and Lucinda Janine.
Selene Vivica, Miles Anthony, and Danica Laurel.
4: I pronounce Selene as “seh-LEEN”. I’m not a fan of the second pronunciation listed, personally. I haven’t heard of it until now.

1. Marceline sounds very elderly, but sweet like like a grandmother. Evangeline sounds like a religious warrior - its too extravagent but still charming. And Selene is elderly too, but modest and tame.
2. Marceline Jeanette, Evangeline Crystal and Selene Amarantha.
3.*Marceline Jeanette, Benjamin McCoy, and Maria Estelle.
*Evangeline Crystal, Micah Leonardo, and Serena Joy.
*Selene Amarantha, Theodore Houston, and Cleo Angel.
4. seh-LEEN. I didn't know that seh-LEE-nee was even an option. I'm not a fan of that one.

Marceline feels like it is trying to marry two different elements and, instead of merging peacefully, the two parts are incongruous. Marcel sounds like an elegant fighter with lace cuffs and a rapier. "-line" reminds me of Madeline and the cute little boarding school girls all in a row. Somehow, Marceline doesn't sound like a cute kid or a well dressed swordswoman instead it combines the worst bits and comes out as a combative kid who throws crayons.
Evangeline sounds elegant and the V gives it an edge of spice. I associate it with the color red, but I can imagine it on a variety of people. It is my favorite of the three.
Selene sounds grown up and svelte but also hard to pin down. It sounds like a sophisticated woman who lacks ties to others - lovely but aloof. I pronounce it seh-LEEN.
Marceline, Silas, and Cordelia
Evangeline, Arthur, and Beatrix
Selene, Demetri, and Clio

team Evangeline all the way it is what I want to use someday. Marceline is pretty too, for Selene I much prefer Celine tbh. Celine feels a bit more classical whereas Selene feels more modern to me idky.
