I used to believe it was ugly and very old. But now I think it's venerable. I like Abe as a nickname a lot. The whole thing seems like a mouthful despite being the same length as Gabriel, a name that is also venerable and biblical. It's shorter than Alexander, which I think is kind of long.

It's OK but heavy; right now it's mainly striking me as priggish.
I like Abe. It's a similar vibe to Gabe or Gideon, I think.
I prefer Absalom for similar heaviness or maybe Abram for Abe.
(Eta: oh, and I also prefer the Arabic/Turkish version; I just think it sounds nicer.)

Love it! It’s a somewhat “clunky” biblical name, but I don’t mind that at all. I mean, all my kids have biblical names and I have a Moses, so Abraham is my kind of name! As a Sarah though, I thought it could be weird to name a son Abraham.
