Violet or Viola?
Violet or Viola?I prefer Viola (I pronounce it Vy - oh - la. Vee - oh - la makes me think of Ravioli) because it's less common and has musical connotations. It has a softer ending and doesn't sound so much like the word "violence".

I prefer the name Violet, personally.

I like Viola better, Violet is a bit too frilly.

Violet, if I had to name a daughter. It’s so much more springy and light, whereas Viola seems heavy to me. I also think I just prefer having more consonants to stand up to the vowels in a name so I like that Violet ends in a consonant.

Violet. I know a few Violets and I like that it's a flower and a color without being too obviously a word name (at least to me, given its history as a given name). Viola is nice too, although I prefer it pronounced Vee-oh-la like the musical instrument. I've only met one Viola before and that's how she pronounced it.

Viola! It's more international, and it deserves more recognition. I want to see it making a comeback.Violet is fine, but I just like Viola more.

Violet is a bit overused, I much prefer Viola. It sounds more mature as well.

Viola, it's very strong and memorable. I really liked hearing it in 'She's the Man'.Violet has that inescapable wallflower connotation (a wilted flower, lol).

I like them both, but I think I prefer Viola. Violet is definitely prettier but Viola has.... I dunno, guts. It's dramatic.

Violet. Viola sounds gross to me, no matter how you pronounce it.
