I think that forgiveness brings great spiritual benefit, if it is sincere and unforced, but I don't believe that that means one "should" do it. Everyone has different experiences and personal setups, and each journey is individual.For some reason, there's a huge difference to me between "it's a good idea" and "one should do it."

It's probably worth noting that I grew up in a particularly strict, fundamentalist church that bordered on/probably was a cult. So of course "forgiving abuse no matter what, period" was a reoccurring theme of the backdrop 😅 we had public shamings, and excomunications, and all sorts lol
