I was expecting it to be a form of Elizabeth, some sort of French cognate of Eliza perhaps. But I love the meaning "trade wind". It's very pretty. I think it would work well as a middle.

I like it.About 14 years ago I was acquainted with a young girl, born in '06, who was named it. She and her family were from France. That was the first I heard of it.I've only ever heard of the singer when looking up the name. Is she even a thing still? Hasn't done anything of note in a few years as far as I can tell. People from the US have often said on this board that they associate it with a brand-name alcoholic beverage called Alizé. I'm not very familiar with that either but it's been associated with rap music.I couldn't care less about either of those associations, though, since I have already met a regular person named it. It's a good name.

It looks and sounds cool, and I like that blunt coolness. The only problem with Alizée is that if you rearrange the letters, you will get Azélie, yet another pretty and modern-looking french name. Unfortunately my brain keeps confusing them... a little.

It's pretty, modern without being trendy, original, a nature name... But it has strong associations with the singer, kind of making it a one-person name.
