Lovell
I know that this site says that Lovell is a masculine name, but when I asked a couple of friends they said that it sounded feminine. I want gather more opinions about this. Does Lovell sound masculine, feminine, or ambiguous? (In a American English context) Thanks in advance :)

Masculine, like most surnames. All I can see is Jim Lovell.

It’s a form of Lowell (great name!) which is a masculine name meaning wolf. However it’s a surname-turned-first name, so could be unisex. It’s more masculine to me, but I wouldn’t object to it on a girl.

The name Lovella is girl's name meaning "wolf". Lovella is most likely a feminine variation on Lovell, a surname. While it feels one of the invented-yet-antiquated girls' names, has the obvious attraction of containing the word "love" within it, as well as the opportunity to use "Ella" as nickname. so ya the name lovell is a feminine name
