Guilty Pleasure Names I actually like but I’m sure BtN hates.
For the record, if I’m in my right mind it’s very unlikely if I have a child I would actually use any of these for their name, I just like the sound of it or would like to see it as a first or middle name because I think it’s cool. I’d love to hear your opinions. You don’t have to comment on all of them, just the ones that catch your eye if that’s the case. I’ll explain them later. Bluebell
Freesia
Calla
Jezebel
Chamomile
Mireille
Elizabet
Amélie

I really like Wisteria and Calanthe (It's on my PNL!).Calla - nice
Clover - adorable on a cow or rabbit
Tansy - On my PNL! I wouldn't use it on my own kid, but I do like it.
Rue - A bit rueful, but nice enough.
Lilac - fine
Calytrix - Cool. It is edgy but still recognizable and fun.
Elizabet - okay
Amélie - nice
Zeus - I really like Zeno. Zeus is nice on a dog. Have you ever seen Magnum PI? I rather liked Higgins's dobermanns.
Cléa - fine
Odin - It would make a neat middle name.
Hendrix - I'm surprised it isn't even more popular. He is among the most famous guitar players.
Marie-Noëlle - lovely
Noelia / Noélya - okay
Sunday / Monday - Not my style but not awful. I like Sunday better than Monday.
Vienna - better than a lot of place names.
Croía - interesting
Marguerite - nice
Winika - okay
Amity/ Peace - Virtue names aren't my style, but these are nice enough.
Étoile - fine
Fantine - It makes me want a Fanta, but it isn't horrible. The fictional character was sad, but nobody disliked her. She reminds me of Ophelia or some other tragic heroine.
Saffron - pretty
Sunshine - It is cute as a nickname.
Sahara - fine
Egypt - Not my style, but it is no worse than Ireland or India or America.
Star - A bit dull but not awful.
Sapphire / Sapphira - Jewel names aren't my style, but these are pretty. The title of this reminded me of Buzzfeed click-bate. This list of names was so varied that a lot of people are bound to like a couple at least.

Hi -- I'm writing_wrote_and_written, I'm just away from my phone. However, I actually like Jezebel, Mireille, Wisteria, Vienna, Daffodil, Tansy, Rue, Saffron, Prairie, and Sapphira from your list.Speaking of my GP names, I like McKayla, LaToya, Topaz, Zenobia, Norma, Persephone, Bobbi Jo, Fallon, Sloane, and Kennedy. You can also check them on my previous posts :")

I’m gonna rate these cuz I’m boredBluebell- sounds like a dog. 2/10
Freesia- this is a villain from dbz and one letter away from… someone who dislikes me. 0/10 for me personally, 4/10 if the latter association wasn’t there.
Calla- I’ve met a Calla before. I think it’s an alright name. 7/10
Jezebel- it can work on a human but only a few specific people. It has a cool sound but it’s more of a character name. 6/10
Chamomile- a dog. 0/10
Mireille- it’s not bad I just don’t care for it. 5/10
Elizabet- 5/10 because I don’t see the point of taking the h off unless it’s a different language or something.
Amélie- 8/10 because I don’t get why someone would hate this. It’s just a normal French name.
Zeus- too fantastical. 1/10
Cléa- I think it’s unique without being too weird. 9/10
Odin- extremely nerdy and awkward sounding. 4/10
Wisteria- sounds pretentious. 2/10
Merlene- it’s alright but it’s dated. 6/10
Hendrix- way too associated with Jimi Hendrix. 2/10
Marie-Noëlle- it’s pretty. 9/10
Noelia / Noélya- this is also pretty but I feel like it’s a bit too sweet. 8/10
Sunday- 4.5/10. It’s a bit weird but I guess there’s not much wrong with it.
Vienna- 9/10, I’ve considered putting it on my PNL.
Croía- la croix. Weird sound. 3/10
Amity- 6/10. It’s pretty but awfully reminiscent of toh. Also sort of doglike.
Daffodil- a dog. 1/10
Blossom- a dog but not as bad as Daffodil. 2/10

I like quite a few of these!Like and consider usable:
Calla
Noelia
CalantheLike as middle names:
Amélie (though totally usable up front outside the US)
Mireille
Elizabet (prefer Elisabet though)
Lilac
SapphiraLike as guilty pleasures:
Marie-Noëlle (don’t know that I’d call this a guilty pleasure per se; totally usable in a French-speaking country but the hyphen and ë would be a major pain in the butt in the US)
Sonnet
Sahara
Rainbow
SapphireDon’t like but they’re usable:
Marguerite
Vienna
Amity
Rue
Saffron

Bluebell - oh, the flowers are beautiful! I often hear people say, that it's a perfect cow name.
Calla - my favorite flower, alas, in my language it would sound weird... (like really weird). It reminds me of Calluna, my recent GP.
Mireille Mathieu - it's a one person name for me.
Elizabet - believe it or not, I like the pronunciation)))
Amélie - why GP?))
Wisteria - makes me think of Wisteria Lane (Desperate Housewives)
Merlene - it's elegant
Marie-Noëlle - too foreign and quirky, but I still find it pretty. I'd shorten it to Maëlle.
Daffodil - well, I once thought about Dandelion, as a name, they have same vibe, imo.
Rue - I love its harsh sound.
Marguerite - I used to like it.
Lilac - reminds me of Lavender, and I prefer Lilac to Lavender.
Calytrix - I guess it's too strange but I used to find Ilex usable, so...
Bay - it's one of those insubstantial, yet cute short word names e.g., Day, Fay, etc.
Saffron - Sophie alternative?)) I like it.
Sapphire, Sapphira - and my favorite form — Safira.

Bluebell - I actually know a child named this, but I’m not a fan.
Freesia - I could see this working
Calla - it’s fine
Jezebel - I actually love it but I think in some places it would be hard to wear
Chamomile - zzzzz
Mireille - fine
Elizabet - fine
Amélie - I love it. Amelie is common enough in the UK.
Zeus - meh
Cléa - fine
Odin - I have met one. Hippy parents.
Wisteria - I adore the flower but it’s too close to hysteria
Merlene - meh
Hendrix - meh
Marie-Noëlle - it’s fine
Noelia / Noélya - sweet
Sunday - meh
Vienna - I know a little Vienna, but it’s a bit too pastry-ish for me
Croía - fine
Amity - it’s ok
Daffodil - too much
Blossom - too much
Aloulette - do you mean Alouette? I don’t like either
Bee (As a middle name! I also like Bea) - as a middle name I’ll allow it
Clover - too much
Honorine - fine
Tansy - one of my high school friends. I like it.
Rue - no
Marguerite - fine
Winika - fine
Lilac - love it
Serendipity - no
Calytrix - not easy to carry, and she would just get called Cally or Trixie anyway
Étoile - meh
Calanthe - fine
Monday - meh
March - no
Fantine (I used to like the combo Stella Fantine a lot) - meh

Why won’t she appreciate the “dry” joke as a teenager? Especially more than any other time of her life? Oh and yes, I meant Alouette, but I do like the sound of Aloulette.

Re Sahara - because teenagers make sex jokes to humiliate each other.

Jezebel is a cool name. I like it better than Isabel or Elizabeth (although I believe, without any evidence, just a hunch, that they are all probably from the same origin, and the connection was obscured). I've often wished people would just go ahead and use it. I mean, they use Eve, Delilah (which was stigmatized in the past), and now Lorelei and Lilith ... Mazikeen even ... what is the reason not to use Jezebel? Prudery? Fear of prudes? hahaMost of these seem fine actually ...Ones on my own favorites:
March (gp of course because the verb)
Star
AmityI could certainly see the appeal of most of them. The ones I don't like:
Bluebell has that goofy bl-bl sound, plus weirdness ... the childish poetic name of the flower vs a literal bell that is blue, ding dong.
Tansy's kind of edgy and good for a character, tho I don't think I'd like it in real life
I hate Bay, makes me think of bae, "babe" - ew
Orchid means gonads, and sounds ugly, can't see any appeal
Flutura is sort of stupid in English - stagenamey maybe - but would still make a cool middle name.
Yale is goofy ... not something to name a person after, IMO. But it does have the sound of personal name, if it weren't for that.
Peace is a lovely concept for a name but just does not work as a name to address someone with imo, it's about like Silent or Silence. Or Ciao.
Sonnet is nauseating ... if not for the word, or if it meant something else I might like the sound of it.
I don't like Serendipity just because of the chirpy singsong aspect but it'd be okay as a MN because the meaning is cool.
Lilac just really does not sound good to me and is flimsy, I love the plant, just not as a name for people

Amelie is one of my favorite names and I would absolutely use it. Although I think the accent looks nice, I wouldn’t use it because I think it would make things unnecessarily complicated for the US. Mireille is pretty but I know the pronunciation and spelling would be botched constantly. Maybe I’ll add to my middle name list… Sonnet, Sahara, and Star are also nice.

I like: Calla - a great alternative to Lily!
Amélie - I know one, it’s beautiful and so much less popular than Amelia.
Noelia - love both this and Noelle, with nickname Nell!
Amity - I can’t believe someone else likes it! This is one of my favourite names!
Daffodil - I was just wondering today why it’s not a socially acceptable name. I guess I’d use Daphne instead…
Rue - I’m a die-hard Hunger Games fan, so I love it. Makes me cry though…
Étoile / Star - I love all names meaning star, but I guess I’d use Estelle / Esther / Astrid. For me it’s Amity, Clemency, Daffodil, Edelwiess, Lovisa, Galilea, Maverick, Seven (girl).

Oh how could I forget about Clemency! Clemency is a real GP of mine, but I’d probably use it to be honest. I really like Amity too, I’m surprised it’s so underused, I think it has some real potential. I really like star and celestial-like names too. :)Frankly I always liked Star, it’s just some comments from a few years ago kind of ruined it for me.

I’d use Clemency and Amity too, tbh. I forgot to add Edelweiss and Galilea.

Hendrix
Blossom
Mireille

I know it’s not the most “out there” list lol but I also have some more I’m not too sure about. Like Morning, Nightingale, Secret, or Heaven. But I get what you’re saying.

I like:Jezebel - unusable until we as a society move away from ye olde biblical insults but it's pretty
Mireille
Amélie - this is trendy in my area, can't really imagine anyone hating it?
Odin
Wisteria
Sunday
Bee - super cute as a nickname
Clover
Rue
Yale
Saffron
Sunshine - as a middle name
Sonnet
SapphiraHow do you feel about Meadow? Just curious - I think it fits with a lot of the names on your list :)

The name Jezebel was utterly ruined for me(might still be kinda unusable). I do like the name Meadow, though.

I actually quite like Meadow! Not enough to use, but I think it’s a fresh and fun name. :)

Names on the list that I love:Calla
Sapphira(I love the sound)
Rainbow
Flutura
Sunshine(I once saw a comment on this name that was so awful that it had to be taken down. I think Sunny is a nice nickname)
Saffron
Calanthe
Serendipity
Calytrix
Étoile
Marguerite
Honorine
Clover
Noelia / Noélya
Sunday
Wisteria
Merlene
Mireille
Elizabet
Amélie
Marie-NoëlleThe rest I don't love love, but they are not too bad. I don't like Yale, Egypt, or Zues, though.
vote up2
I love Marguerite, and like Saffron. But you're right, the rest are not my cup of tea. I've known an Odin, a Barrett (a boy), a Peace (a girl), a Clover (a boy), and a Sunday (a girl). I did always think Orchid would make a fabulous name for an absurd soap opera character.
vote up2
I also really liked Orchid a lot when I was maybe 10 or 9, but then I found out it meant “penis” I was quite turned off.
vote up1
Bluebell, Calanthe, and Prairie stand out as names I probably wouldn’t use myself but would find interesting and enjoyable if I came across them somewhere.
