My mind immediately goes to actress / singer Carmen Miranda. My parents actually named their Chihuahua Carmen Miranda, but only call her Carmen! It’s a nice enough name.

I really like this name. I love the history and uniqueness it has. However, I have no comment on it being used for boys though.

I like it enough. Pretty, musical, and familiar. I like it much more on a girl but it’s not awful on a boy. I reminds me of Carmen San Diego.

It used to be one of my favorite names ever but I can’t really use it anymore.
I think it can work for either gender but is better on girls.
I’ve met a three year old girl named Carmen.

As for the name itself, I don’t really have any string associations with it but it reminds me of the color red.

Dramatically operatic! For that reason I prefer the Latin etymology. Friends knew a Carmen years ago; she was a much older woman back then. I'd like to see it used more often.

Kind of neutral, no strong opinion. Knew of one older guy with this name and of course heard of the actress Carmen Miranda, but never knew anyone younger using it.
