Sometimes a meaning can enhance my enjoyment of a name, but only if I already like the sound. (Sophia and Irene, for instance.) Aesthetic is what drives my preferences first and foremost. A bad meaning doesn't really tarnish my opinion either - I like Cecilia and that isn't lessened knowing it means "blind." This doesn't apply to word names of course. I do find name meanings interesting and fun to look up. As I enjoy virtue names I also appreciate names with virtue meanings.
