Kimberly

I'm just getting interested in this name as I think this is one of the names that start with K that is really beautiful. I heavily associate it with Cyneburga or Kinborough.
What puzzles me is the spelling. Same with Beverly. Makes them look like adverbs - he dresses really Beverly, but his sister sings quite Kimberly in the choir. In UK English, and also here in South Africa so far, they are Kimberley and Beverley. And, in South Africa, Kimberley is a town where diamonds were first mined. Now, it's a small, dusty country town with not much going for it.
I don't like Beverl(e)y or the nn Bev; both seem stodgy. Kim isn't a favourite, but it's better than Kimberl(e)y.
I knew a woman named Kimbrian, pronounced like Kim + Brian. She hates it with a passion and always goes by Kim. Her father found the name in a book he was reading, and really loved it; so far he's the only one who even likes it even slightly.

Knew a guy called Kim, a girl called Kimberlyn, but never a Kimberly. Like it, seems a bit retro, cute.
This is one of those names that I actually rather like but have such a hard time imagining it being used for a child anymore - it feels like a name that's hey-day has passed. I am actually struck that it's remained in the top 250 in the United States.
I don't dislike Kim as a short former. Kimmy sounds... well, dumb to me. (When the only association I have is a "Full House" character I'm not likely to endorse it.)

I think it's pretty, and pretty much a modern classic. Only drawback is I don't especially like the nn Kim, and it seems nearly inevitable though I know one Kimberly who is called by the full name by all her family and close friends.
I don't hate it. Not a fan of Kimmy/Kimmie, but Kim is cute.
