Name of the Day: Silvia

I love Sylvia and Silvia. I think I'd go with the y spelling just because that is the more common spelling where I live and therefore would save some time for the kid - I have to spell out my name a lot and it gets old.
I thin it is a little dated, but the nickname Sylvie isn't, and I like the little bit of datedness. I guess it feels more classic to me.

Sylvia is one of my childhood loves, it was the name of a character from my favourite book. I made the combos Sylvia Daisy and Sylvia Violet, both inspired by the story, and I could never decide which I liked more! I still really like both of those combos.... And I still can't decide which I like best :)
Silvia is beautiful too, but I love the look of that Syl- beginning, so I think that spelling is my fave.
Sylvie is really cute as well, it's very friendly.

It's an absolute gorgeous name in my book. Timeless and classic. I far prefer the 'Y' spelling, as it's the spelling that's most often seen and what I've always grown accustomed to, long before my niece, Sylvia was born. Silvia to me is fine, but not nearly as nice. I like Sylvie as well, but more as a nickname. I feel it just doesn't work as well for a full name.
Some combos:
Sylvia Charlotte (My niece, so naturally the first combo that comes to mind) (:
Sylvia Gwen/Gwendolyn
Sylvia June
Sylvia Jade
Sylvia Jane
Sylvia Katherine/Catherine
Sylvia Grace
Sylvia Hope
Sylvia Madeline/Madeleine

I've always liked Sylvia: not as metallic as Silvia. I find it classic rather than dated, because it has never been particularly popular where I live.
Sylvie, and Silvie, do not appeal as full names, though as nicknames they'd be fine.
Sylvia Jane
Sylvia Bryony
Sylvia Margaret
Sylvia Rosamond
Sylvia Ruth
