For me Dale on a man is very "Boomer at a backyard BBQ" type name. Very suburban 60s. That gives it some charm, like finding something dorky at a garage sale, but at the same time it doesn't hold my interest very long. Dale on a woman is much more exciting, it conjures up singing cowboys and has a bit more of a vintage patina.
