Sidney and Stanley
Have we talked about these names recently? I like them both a lot but they don’t seem to be favoured amongst many name fans, though they are quite popular in England and Wales. I especially like Sidney’s association with Sidney Poitier.
What do you think? :)

I love the name Stanley on animals. On any kind of pet, it immediately bestows so much warmth and personality, either charmingly curmudgeonly or adorably sweet, depending on the animal's nature. It's like it enhances it. On a person, it's still a bit blah, dated in a boring way. I would be very surprised to hear about a baby Stanley, that might be actually be quite cute.
I like Sidney a lot, certainly much more for a boy than a girl. I like that it sounds so slick and has a bit of a rapscallion vibe. I think of a film noir detective or a fast-talking actor in an early talkie. It's on par with a name like Victor or Vincent - stylish yet slippery.

I both like it.
