Marlene is vintage like Arlene and Darlene but a little more sporty/current like Marley. Kinda cute in a stylized way.
The German pronunciation is ok. I think people in the US are reasonably familiar with it.
I don't like Marlena mahr-LEEN-uh. The schwa just seems unnecessary. Or it's maybe annoyingly soft since I'm more used to Martina and Karlina. But also I don't like Elena or Helena or Lena with LEEN pronunciations...
