Cataleya
A new name in the database. What do you think of Cataleya? What would you pair it with? This is the flower below:

There's a Brazilian pop singer, Kataleya. There's a lot of spellings...Katalia, Katalea, Kataleah, Katalaya, Cathaleya...I would have assumed it was a Catalina variant similar to Katell or Katrell.
It's okay, reminds me of Cat, Talia, Thalia, Taleah, Tullia, Leia, Lea.As a botanical name, it seems like Camelia or Yesenia.Vera Cataleya
Esperanza Cataleya
Melody Cataleya
Elmira Cataleya
Niobe Cataleya
Cataleya Priscilla
Cataleya Drusilla
Cataleya Minerva
Cataleya Varinia
...all the MNs I immediately think of are prim seeming Latin ones.

It looks like someone's trying to remember Galatea, they have it right there at the end of their tongue so they're kind of guessing, trying to make the word sound right. Cataleya doesn't sound right to me. And it does make me think of cattle a bit.

Love it!

It's interesting... but I've read somewhere that it reminds people of the word 'cattle'. I wonder whether anglophones find this name unattractive.

I think people who don't speak Spanish would be more likely to associate it with cattle because they can't pronounce the beginning of the name like Spanish speakers can.

It's so beautiful in my opinion. It reminds me of cattleya orchid. I much prefer Catalina.
