What do you think of the name / nickname Sandy for a boy?
What do you think of Sandy for a boy as either a standalone name or a nickname?I know it can be used as a nickname for Alexander or Xander which is pretty cool.

My grandpa was an Alexander who went by Sandy. Love it.

I like it very much; it's much less tired than Alex, Zander etc. It's got a lively, outdoors vibe that is really cheerful.

I love it as a nickname on a boy, it's adorable. It really softens up Alexander.

It's not one I'd ever want to use, but it has a bit of charm to it. It's pretty old-fashioned and I picture a Scottish man using it. It could work for Alexander or Xander, or Sanford (I think the ballplayer Sandy Koufax was Sanford) or for someone with sandy-colored hair.

I don’t like it at all for a boy, I don’t like it much for a girl either. It’s an adjective and sometimes not a pleasant one. I just think of it as rough and dirty like sand and associate it with the squirrel on SpongeBob. I also don’t like standalone nicknames much and while I like Alexander there are many better nicknames for Alexander than Sandy. I also just think a boy named Sandy would be a bit difficult because it’s definitely seen more of the girls name at least here.

I really like it. I considered AlexanderSandy” for my son, but didn’t end up using it.

It's cute but risky to use legally on a boy.I have a soft spot for it. I would use it as a personal nickname.
