I don't really like it. Shannon most likely comes from Sionann which is feminine. I also looked up usage in Ireland: 0 Shannons (male) and lots and lots (female). I guess it can be from a surname or river and therefore also masculine but would most guys love to have a name that many many women about 25+ years older than them have?
