I like Ellen. Helen is okay. It sounds a bit dated to me. I really like some of the other variants of Helen such as Elena and Yelena. Jelena is nice but I think people would always be pronouncing it with a J sound.

Ellen and Helen are fine. Jelena, no thanks.

I like Ellen.
Helen starts with the Hell sound. I prefer Helena because it distracts me from the first syllable.
I'd choose Yelena over Jelena to avoid pronunciation confusion. Either of them sound fine, but not necessarily pretty in my opinion.

Ellen does not appeal to me at all. I just think of the incompetent housemaid in the Mary Poppins books, or I think I do. I love Eleanor and Elinor, which I know are very different but they do look and sound similar. Can't explain why.

Jelena looks unattractive and I don't enjoy that Yuh sound at all.

Ellen has grown on me too. I don’t like Jelena so much, Helena or Elena are better.
