I much prefer Helen. Ellen seems better suited to a Victorian housemaid with a constant sniffle.
For the record, my order of preference would be:
Helen, first
Eleanor or Elinor (I know they aren't the same name but they look as if they should be!)
Elaine
and Helena and Helene or Hélène, last
