I like Ellen, as I do nearly all Helen-related names, but it's definitely not my favourite among them, as it feels a little dated in a way that doesn't feel vintage quite yet, and just a little bit boring and also seems like it's overused in the middle name spot. Overall it's a nice name though and maybe in 10-20 years would be ready for a comeback, given that El- names are so popular. I think Nellie is an adorable nickname for Ellen.
I like it- minus a certain celebrity association.
It's no opinion but it's okay. :)
I appreciate the dignified simplicity of it.
I've noticed I've been liking it slightly more lately, and I think it's because Eleanor has gone up in the charts, but the meaning and preppiness of Eleanor annoys me, plus there's Ella which I like but seems a little lightweight, so I guess Ellen starts looking better in comparison...
El* names are popular right now as a group in the US (Eleanor, Elena, Eliana, Ella, Elodie, Eliza, Eloise, Elise, Ellis, Elian, Elijah, Eli, Elias, Eliott) with Ellen being one of the least used ones, along with Elaine and Elmira, both of which I also like.
My friend has a toddler Elin.

It's ok
I wouldn't give it to a child, but its dignified, sweet, and prettier than Helen.
