Re: Daughter names list

Ranked from most to least favourite.
Matilda: I enjoy Matilda very much. It feels sprightly and confident and ages well.
Cora: I prefer Cordelia, but Cora is agreeable too. Charming, but level-headed.
Sapphira: okay, maybe God struck her down but at least she had a bewitching, incandescent name.
Sara: I appreciate how international it is. It feels smoky and subdued.
Layla: this would place higher if it was spelt Leila.
Abigail: friendly, but tiring.
Amedea: unsatisfyingly fragmentary.
Melissa: um I like the honeybee meaning. That's all.
Luna: meretricious. Like cheap and satiny wrapping paper that looks pretty at first, but after you unwrap your presents, you're left with this mass of it on your floor, and you think "might as well have wrapped them in newspapers".
Muriel: macabre. It's only redeeming quality is the association with Muriel Spark.
