It looks like a spelling mistake, but I don't know if it's meant to be Cherie or Cherry. Cherie is a stand-in for any name of any female we are fond of, which makes it seem worse than nicknamey if used as an actual name. And Cherry - a delicious fruit, but I don't enjoy botanical names; I've heard it as a nn for Cheryl, but I prefer the full form of the name. Either way, then, it isn't a name I'd enjoy.
