Bastian, Julie and Joan
These names are on my mind as well, but I just thought of them.
Bastian is the main character in "A Neverending Story" and I like it better than Sebastian. Thoughts?
Julie is a name that for some reason doesn't seem dated at all. Do you like it? Do you find it dated?
Joan is kind of cool, what do you think? I think it seems more interesting than June.

I like Julie, prefer Sebastian to just Bastian, I prefer June to Joan
Bastian, where I live, is about as down-market as a name can go! Bastian wears creased khaki clothing, lives on a small-holding and eats white bread and margarine and vegetables in tins. No, I'll take Sebastian any day - at least it can shorten to Seb.
Julie does seem dated to me; perhaps because the Julie people I've known have all been elderly at best. I don't like it; don't like Judy either so perhaps it's the sound. I don't mind Julian for a boy or Juliet for a girl, but only as a mn, precisely to avoid the possibility of nn Julie.
I like Joan but not enough to use. I'd prefer Joanna; or Jean or Jane. Joan is most certainly more interesting than June! It could hardly be less interesting ... June does nothing for me at all, and I don't think it's because it's a winter month here. Same Ju- sound as Julie and Judy: that could be the problem.
