Elegant, sweet, pretty. I really like the nickname Maggie.

I also really like Magdalena (pronounced mag-də-LAY-nə, not LEE-nə). I actually prefer the look of Magdalene, but I know that way lies pronunciation confusion so the -lena spelling is more practical. Like you, I favor the Lena (LAY-nə) nickname over the more obvious Maggie.

My favourite nickname is Lena but I also like Magda and Maggie.

I love it because I find it elegant, religious, original and a bit sensual. Lena is a cute nickname but I prefer Magda or -better than all- any nicknames.

I like Magdalen very much, and Magda as a nn. Magdalena, however, I dislike for its clunky, clumsy rhythm. I have the same problem with Angelina, Clementina, Georgiana etc: the emphasis on the first and third syllables. Elizabeth, Felicity, Victoria etc sound much lighter and livelier.

This is one of my favourite names! I love it’s biblical origin and its strong appeal. Lena is a nice nickname but I don’t like Maggie.

I love it. It's awkward/cute. The "gd" is clunky but it has charm. I'm in college with one who goes by Magda, which isn't my first choice but it is eccentric and charming. I'm more of an english traditionalist in my nicknaming so though I like Lena a fair amount I'd probably opt for Maggie before the other options.

I really like it! Mostly hear Madzia and Maggie as nicknames.
