I'd prefer Erasmus, though not enough to consider using it IRL. It's surprisingly common among Afrikaans-speaking South Africans, and shortens to Rassie, with the a sounding like an uh. Nereus does nothing for me, and the -reus element would lead to pronunciation problems in South Africa, where it would sound rather like REEuhs, which means 'giant'.
