Name Sighting: Elsie
Wdyt of the name Elsie? I met a little girl with this name in the supermarket and it seems to be getting more popular recently where I am (in the UK). I'm glad - I think it deserves a comeback - although I much prefer it as a nickname than a full name. What's your opinion?*LISTEN TO THE MUSTN'TS

I prefer Elsa over Elsie despite Frozen because Elsa is usable across a lifetime from 1 to 100. Elsie is very childish & a nickname one grows out of by puberty. It's a cute childhood nickname, but a nickname nonetheless.

It strikes me as very old lady name as the only people I've ever known named Elsie were born pre-1950.

I had this name on our list when we were expecting our DD and my second DS now has a really good friend named Elsie (who he states he will marry when they get older! So cute!), so I wouldn’t ever use it now. I love the name though, I think it’s gorgeous. I don’t mind nn type names as full names though.

It's very adorable. I love it both as a full name and as a nickname (especially for Elisabeth and Elspeth!).
